There are so many ways to get involved with the PTSA! We pride ourselves on being flexible and accommodating to all by working with everyone's schedules to get things done.
Have a great idea? We want to hear about it! Our PTSA is in it's early years and the only way to grow and thrive is with the help of this community. Reach out to share ideas, volunteer, or just get more information.

PTSA Committees
Committees are created by PTSA members who see a need and want to organize to solve a problem together. The committees below are a few we have started in the past, but we can always modify them and create new ones!
🪅 PTSA Spring Fundraiser
During this annual ALA event we will sell lemonade, help with decorations, and organize a raffle to raise money for PTSA. This is usually our biggest event and how we raise the money the PTSA uses to celebrate and support our teachers and staff. Help us plan, set up, and coordinate the event!

🍎 MAP & iReady Snack Donations
The PTSA provides small snacks to help our littlest gators get through long days of testing. End of the year testing is in May and you can help by donating snacks, helping sort and pack snacks to deliver to teachers, and creating inspirational posters for the hallways.

📚 Readathon
Have experience with a readathon, or ideas for how to make this great? This is a new event we want to sponsor, and will take any help! We are looking for help with logistics, socializing the event, coming to the school to read, and orchestrating the closing event.

🐊 Growin’ Gators 3rd Grade Transition
Have a kiddo moving to the Tech campus next year? Or did you just go through this change? We want to help parents feel excited about the new campus!

🍎 Teacher Appreciation
A big way we use PTSA money is by celebrating our teachers! Last year we sponsored breakfast… what should we do this year? Have something to donate?

ALA Primary Needs Committee
ALA Primary Needs Committee
This committee partners with teachers and staff to support the ALA Primary campus. Some activities include organizing the maker space, keeping up with lost & found, or prepping teacher supplies for classrooms.

ALA Tech Needs Committee
This committee partners with teachers and staff to support the ALA Tech campus. Some activities could include decorating for holidays, keeping up with lost & found, or taking care of play and community areas.
More ways the PTSA supports ALA
The PTSA is always ready to step in and help teachers and admin with special events on campus, such as:
decorating for the annual Thanksgiving lunch
volunteering in the library & at Book Fair
school wide Readathon
creating fiesta flowers for the Noche de Colores y Baile Familiar
assembling snack bag & notes of encouragement for students during MAP and STAR testing
provide snowcones for field day
providing food/ gifts for teacher appreciation week

App Garden is a tool SAISD uses to keep track of all volunteer opportunities. Teachers will regularly add times they need help into this system, so check often!
All volunteers must be entered into the SAISD Volunteer System. If you want to chaperone field trips, assist in the classroom, or visit the campus you must be in the App Garden system. You must register each calendar year and it can take a few days to process the application.
